What is Zero Waste Hero?
In 2023, the Riverside County Department of Waste Resources hosted the first Zero Waste Hero virtual campaign. The campaign will return for the second time in 2025! This online experience will be held on Instagram and Facebook, from January 1 - 31, as a way to encourage and educate the Riverside County community about waste reduction.
Participants will have the opportunity to enter weekly drawings by completing virtual, easy challenges that promote low/zero waste practices. All participants will automatically be entered, and participants who remain engaged throughout the month will have higher chances at winning one of the weekly prizes. In 2023, the prizes included sustainable goodies, such as eco-friendly wool dryer balls and office supplies, and reusable items like bags, steel straws, and cups.
The grand prize winner is able to select their choice of a composting system, delivered for free!

Terms and Conditions
Winners must be able to show proof of a Riverside County address to receive their prize. Drawings in which a winner is unable to provide evidence of a Riverside County address will be re-drawn. No P.O. box addresses are allowed. If the package is lost or damaged during transit, the Department is not responsible.
