Human Excrement

Human excrement may pose a health risk for solid waste workers. Human fecal waste sources include, but are not limited to, the care of an infant child or incontinent adult, broken sewage lines, septic tank renovation and disposal, vagrancy remediation, and illegal residence abatement.

Disposal Locations

    Riverside County Landfills

    Small Quantity (under 10 pounds):

    • Child and adult diapers are accepted at all County landfills. Diapers must be contained in bags. 
    • Human excrement that is not in a diaper, double bag the waste and dispose of as routine refuse.

    Large Quantity (over 10 pounds):

    • For human excrement associated with Recreational Vehicles, visit Sewage page of the Waste Guide.
    • For abnormal situations resulting in the need to dispose of human excrement such as, but not limited to, broken sewage lines, septic tank renovation and disposal, vagrancy remediation, and illegal residence abatement, customers should contact the Department at (951) 486-3200 to gain approval and arrange for immediate burial services.

    Locations & hours

    Fee schedule:  Hard to Handle disposal rates apply to waste loads requiring immediate burial

    ONLY provides pick-up at customer's location.  Pick-up must be on a regular basis with a large quanitity of tires.
