Ash Resulting from Commercial Process
Ash which is generated from a commercial process may or may not be hazardous depending on the content of the ash. Often, ash generated in a commercial application contains heavy metals above regulatory threshold levels and the ash is then considered a hazardous waste. Therefore, this waste stream requires a special waste approval from the Department prior to landfilling. Ash Resulting From Structure Fire
Ash resulting from structure fire damage may contain materials that are prohibited at Riverside County Landfills. Refer to the Department’s Fire Debris page for more information on the disposal of this material.

There is no approval process to dispose of ash resulting from household fireplaces, campfires, or warming fires.
Fee schedule: Routine refuse disposal rates apply.
Note: Customers may be held personally liable for the cost of fire suppression activities, damage to landfill equipment, and injury to personnel if they dispose of hot ash which results in a trash or landfill fire.
