A waste tire is a tire which is no longer usable for its original intended purpose because of wear, damage, or defect or a tire which has been discarded or disposed of by its owner.
Extend the Life of Your Tires
- Check the air pressure in your tires at least once a month.
- Regularly check the tread depth of your tires.
- Rotate your tires every 6,000 miles as a rule of thumb.
- Practice good driving habits. Observe speed limits, steer clear of potholes and debris on the road.
- Finally, be alert to changes in vehicle handling, and look for uneven wear on your tires.
Recycling Locations
Tires are accepted only at the Badlands, Blythe, and Lamb Canyon landfills for recycling with the following restrictions:
- Passenger/light duty tires from residential customers only.
- No commercial tires.
- Limited to five tires per residential customer per day.
- A surcharge of $6.00/tire will apply.
- Tires may not be disposed with other solid waste. Customers must separate tires and place them in the designated storage area.
- Tires may be refused at any time to prevent the landfill from exceeding maximum tire storage limits. Department landfills may not store more than 500 tires at any one time. Commercial haulers should utilize a tire recycling facility.
- No out-of-county tires.
- No equipment tires or oversize tires.
