Carpet
Although you can dispose of carpet and carpet padding in your trash bin, it is better to recycle it. The face fiber of carpet is the most valuable part of the carpet, and is usually made from nylon, polypropylene or polyester. The carpet backing is usually made from latex, polyvinylchloride or polypropylene.

The California Carpet Stewardship Program, managed by the Carpet America Recovery Effort (CARE) and CalRecycle, promotes carpet recycling and reclamation. CARE has set up over 140 carpet recycling drop-off locations throughout the state, making it easy, cost-effective, and convenient for everyone to participate.
